Canaan Company started in a small workshop in Vermont, where our founder couldn’t stop thinking about why most pillows feel wrong after just a few months. We’re not another bedding company trying to sell you on thread counts or fancy materials you can’t pronounce. We make pillows that actually last, support your head the way it needs supporting, and don’t require a small mortgage to afford.
Every Canaan pillow starts with a simple question: what would we want to sleep on for the next five years? That means no shortcuts on fill quality, no flimsy shells that leak feathers after a few washes, and definitely no marketing gimmicks disguised as innovation. We source our materials from suppliers who’ve been doing this longer than we have, test every batch ourselves, and stand behind each pillow with a warranty that actually means something. Our workshop team — all twelve of us — personally use what we make. If we wouldn’t give it to our pickiest relatives, it doesn’t leave our doors.
The name comes from the ancient promise of a land of rest and abundance — maybe a bit lofty for a pillow company, but we figured good sleep is its own kind of promised land. We’re based in the same converted textile mill where we started, though we’ve expanded from one room to three. Our customers tend to find us through word of mouth, usually from someone who’s tired of replacing their pillows every year. We like it that way. No influencer campaigns or popup ads, just pillows that do what pillows should do: help you wake up without a crick in your neck, ready for whatever’s next.
Be the first to know about special deals and seasonal collections.
At Canaan Company, we’ve spent years perfecting the intersection of comfort and support. Our pillows aren’t just another bedding accessory—they’re engineered for the way you actually sleep, not how marketing departments think you should. Every material choice, from our responsive cores to our breathable covers, serves a single purpose: delivering consistently better rest, night after night.
“Ordered the firm support pillow for my husband who’s a stomach sleeper. He stopped complaining about his morning headaches after the first week—I ended up getting one too.”

“The bamboo cover on the memory foam pillow is a game changer. Stays fresh way longer than my old pillows, and the texture feels expensive without the luxury price tag.”

“Bought two Canaan pillows during the holiday sale to replace our 5-year-old ones. The difference was shocking—we’d forgotten what actual support felt like.”

Most pillows can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and warm water. It’s best to wash two at a time to keep the machine balanced. After washing, tumble dry on low heat with clean tennis balls to help maintain fluffiness. Pillow protectors can extend the time between washes. Check the care label for specific instructions, as some materials require special handling.
Quality pillows generally last between 1-3 years depending on materials and care. Signs it’s time for replacement include visible lumps, permanent stains, increased allergy symptoms, or waking up with neck pain. Synthetic fills typically need replacing sooner than natural materials. Regular fluffing and using protective covers can extend pillow life.
Side sleepers typically need firmer, thicker pillows to fill the gap between shoulder and neck. Back sleepers do well with medium-firm options that support the natural curve of the neck. Stomach sleepers should choose soft, thin pillows to avoid neck strain. Some people prefer having multiple pillows with different firmness levels for versatility.

Standard warranty coverage is typically one year from the purchase date, protecting against manufacturing defects and premature wear under normal use.
